The Institute of Credit Management (Africa) was founded in
1996, as the Namibian branch of the South African Institute
of Credit Management. The Founders of the Namibian Branch
of the ICM were:
Eugene Joubert, who
was the President of the South African Institute and
Christine Jordaan, the co-principal of
PBS Training College in Southern Africa.
Mr. Tobie Kruger of Windhoek, became
the first Chairperson of the Namibian branch of the ICM.
It soon became obvious that the Namibian
branch of the RSA ICM could not function as such, and
the Namibian Institute of Credit Management was formed
in 1997, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Derick Lotteryman,
a senior credit practitioner in Windhoek. Other members
of the managing board of the newly formed Institute, intermittently
included Ms Joanie Rattay, Ms Benita Loth, Mr. Chris Shivolo,
Ms Ansie van der Merwe, Ms Sophie van Wyk, Ms Minette
Pajewski, and Ms Simone Steidler.
In 2002, under the leadership of Pieter
and Christine Jordaan, the Namibian Institute of Credit
Management amalgamated with several representative bodies
of the credit fraternity of various SADC countries, to
form the ICM (Africa). Until July 2007, the ICM (Africa)
was managed under the capable chairmanship of Mr. Derick
Lotteryman while secretarial functions are handled by
Ms Simone Steidler.
At the special General Meeting held
in Dar es Salaam on 24 July 2007, one of the founders
of the African Institute of Credit Management was appointed
as Chair Person. Ms Christine Jordaan (B.A; MBL; M.Ins.D;
FICM), of PBS Training College, a division of Professional
Business School, was unanimously elected to lead the Institute
through the next development phase. This phase includes
the dynamic changes in litigation regarding the usage
and extension of credit throughout the SADC.
Dr. Frank Ogildvie (D.Com et Phil) was
elected as a Board Member and examiner for the academic
year 2008 to 2010.
Ms Simone Steidler (Dip CM; MICM) has
been re-appointed as Secretary of the Institute. Simone
is an accredited trainer for PBS Training College.
Membership of the ICM (Africa) is well
represented throughout South Africa, Namibia, and several
SADEC countries.
